A. Когда нужен Present Simple
Present Simple описывает то, что происходит вообще: постоянные факты, привычки, регулярные действия и расписания.
Например: Nurses look after patients. The earth goes round the sun. The cafe opens at 7.30.
Это не время для действия, которое происходит прямо сейчас. Alex drives a bus — его профессия, даже если сейчас он спит и не ведёт автобус.
I usually go away at weekends.
The earth goes round the sun.
Alex drives a bus.
B. Форма: I work, but he works
С I / we / you / they используем базовую форму: I work, they teach, we have.
С he / she / it обычно добавляем -s или -es: he works, my sister teaches, it goes. У have особая форма: he has.
Не ставь Present Continuous вместо привычки или профессии: He drives a bus, не He is driving a bus.
I work, but my sister works.
They teach, but he teaches.
I have a car, but she has a bike.
C. Вопросы и отрицания с do / does
Для вопросов используем do с I / we / you / they и does с he / she / it: Where do you come from? What does this word mean?
Для отрицаний используем don’t и doesn’t, а основной глагол остаётся в базовой форме: I don’t go; Rice doesn’t grow in cold climates.
Do может быть и смысловым глаголом: What do you do? He doesn’t do anything to help.
Do you work here?
Does she live in London?
He doesn’t do anything to help.
D. Как часто и речевые действия
Present Simple часто сочетается с every morning, usually, often, always, sometimes, never, twice a year.
Его также используем, когда действие совершается словами: I promise, I apologise, I suggest, I agree, I refuse.
Сравнение: I usually read before bed — привычка; I’m reading now — действие в момент речи.
How often do you go to the dentist?
Robert usually goes away two or three times a year.
I promise I won’t be late.
